Foster

What fostering entails
Better Bunny is a 100% foster-based rescue since we don't yet have a facility. Every bunny we save relies on a loving foster home—like yours—for safety, healing, and care.
When you foster, you're not just helping—you’re making rescue possible.

Duration
Fostering means temporarily welcoming a rabbit into your home until they’re adopted. Some bunnies stay just a few weeks, others may need a little longer, especially those recovering from injury, neglect, or abandonment. While they’re with you, you’ll help them feel safe, build trust, and prepare for a forever home.

What Does a Foster Volunteer Do?
Provide daily care: Food, hay, water, litter box cleaning, and playtime.
Offer love and patience: Many rabbits need time to come out of their shell.
Observe and communicate: Let us know how your bunny is doing! Your notes help us match them with the right adopter.
Transport when needed: You may be asked to bring your foster bunny to a vet appointment or adoption meet-and-greet.
Foster requirements:
- Be located on Oʻahu
- Be able to house the rabbit indoors in a 4'x4' pen
- Be 18+ or have a parent/guardian directly involved
- Ability to keep other pets away from your foster bunny
- Willingness to learn proper bunny care (No experience needed—we'll teach you everything you need to know!)
